Individual In-House Volunteers are essential to our mission. We rely on our volunteers to help keep the Ronald McDonald House a clean, warm and welcoming place for our families. Volunteer duties include cleaning, laundry, errands, preparing guest rooms, sorting donations, driving the shuttle van to/from the hospital, and helping with special events. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Shuttle van drivers must be at least 18 years of age. Volunteers are asked to commit to one regular three-hour shift per week for the duration of a semester/four months. Shifts are assigned at the beginning of each semester and are structured as 9AM-12PM, 12PM-3PM, 3PM-6PM, or 6PM-9PM. Attendance reliability is required.

Prepare a Meal
Serving a meal at the Ronald McDonald House or the Family Room at St. Luke’s is another great way to volunteer. Families staying at the Ronald McDonald House or using the Family Room appreciate home cooked meals following a long and stressful day at the hospital.
Group Service Projects
Just as with any home, it takes a lot of work and helping hands to keep the Ronald McDonald House clean and tidy. We welcome volunteer groups that are interested in performing group service projects such as general cleaning, preparing guest rooms, laundry, vacuuming, sorting donations, organizing the food pantry, etc.
Help During the Holidays
It’s always difficult for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House to be away from their home and families during the holidays. From Valentine’s Day to Christmas and Hanukkah, volunteers can assist the staff by making holiday meals and treats for the families and children. Volunteers willing to help decorate the House are also needed prior to the holiday season.
