The Kurtz Family

When their second son, Wyatt, was born 15 weeks early the Kurtz family found themselves unexpectedly in Iowa City. Anticipating a long NICU stay, the Waukee family reached out to the Ronald McDonald House. “Having a room at the Ronald McDonald House took so much stress off our hospital stay. It allowed us to really focus on our family and supporting our son while he was in the NICU.” Their older son enjoyed the play areas, and Rachel and Justin met other families who understood the challenges of having a child in the hospital. “It created a space for us to take a break from the hospital and gather together as a family in our home away from home.” After 86 days at the Ronald McDonald House, baby Wyatt was strong enough to go home. “We are forever grateful and have a place in our hearts for RMHC in Iowa City.”
