Governor's Charity Steer Show

Held at the Iowa State Fair

In a joint effort led by Iowa’s cattle producers and the Governor, many generous donors work together to bring comfort, hope, and healing to RMHC families through the Governor’s Charity Steer Show.

Each year the Governor’s Charity Steer Show brings together personalities in media, business, sports and government, to lead 1,300-pound steers in historic Pioneer Livestock Pavilion during the Iowa State Fair. Thousands of fairgoers flock to the event to not only root for their favorite celebrity, but also share their support for a worthy cause led by the Iowa cattle industry.

The worthy cause is charitable support for the three Iowa Chapters of the Ronald McDonald House Charities located in the state of Iowa.

2016 Recap from Doug Bear, Director of Industry Relations (IBIC), and Matt Deppe, Chief Executive Officer (ICA):

“The Iowa Beef Industry Council and Iowa Cattlemen’s Association are honored to make a donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois in the amount of $79,349.51 from the proceeds of the 2016 Governor’s Charity Steer Show. We had the highest grossing auction to date for RMHC-EIWI. Since its inception in 1983, the Governor’s Charity Steer Show and Auction has generated over $2.9 million for the Ronald McDonald Houses of Iowa.”
