Meal Opportunities

Prepare a Meal at the Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City!

Families staying at the Ronald McDonald House appreciate a hot meal following a long and stressful day at the hospital. Our newly remodeled and expanded Kitchen at Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City is now open and we need your help to get cooking!

It is easy and a great way to spend an afternoon. Simply gather your friends, family, or coworkers and decide on a menu. Bring the groceries to the Ronald McDonald House and start cooking. We provide all the necessary cooking equipment, utensils, cookware and serving ware.

  • Limit of 8 volunteers at a time when preparing meals.
  • All food must be prepared in a commercial kitchen or onsite. (you can bring prepackaged items if they are prepared and packaged at a licensed kitchen)
  • All volunteers must be healthy and not experiencing any symptoms of communicable illness.
  • Dinner is served at 5:30 pm each day and served buffet style. We will provide all needed equipment to keep food hot/cold as needed. After food is set out, our staff can monitor and package food after families have eaten.

Please reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteercoordinator@rmhc-eiwi.org with any questions.
