1. How much does it cost to stay at the Ronald McDonald House?
Families may choose to pay a suggested donation of $15/night for their stay in a standard room and $20/night for a stay in a family suite. However, no family is turned away due to an inability to contribute to their stay.
2. Where are the Ronald McDonald House and Family Rooms located?
The Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City is located at 730 Hawkins Drive, Iowa City, IA, 52246. Please refer to the map for details. The Ronald McDonald Family Room at the UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital is located only a few blocks away at 200 Hawkins Drive, Iowa City, IA, 52242. The Ronald McDonald Family Room at UnityPoint – St.Luke’s is located on the second floor of the Center for Women’s and Children’s Health at 150 11th Street NE, Cedar Rapids, IA, 52402.
3. I made a reservation but you don’t have a room available for my family. What should we do?
Placing your family’s name on our Request to Stay list does not guarantee a reservation such as a hotel stay might provide. Families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City can keep their room for as long as their child is being treated at the hospital, which is often an unpredictable amount of time. Ronald McDonald House staff will do their best to place your family into a room on the night you request. If your family is not able to get a room at the Ronald McDonald House, staff can work with area hotels to provide your family with a voucher to stay at a nearby hotel. The rate your family would be responsible for is typically between $39.99 – $59.99 plus tax each night.
4. What do I need to bring with me for my stay?
The Ronald McDonald House provides all basic linens, towels, and toiletries. All rooms have a private bathroom equipped with a shower and toilet.
