Jamie Henderson, President

Online Banking Specialist, NXT Bank | Resides in Cedar Rapids, IA

“From the time our daughter was born she has faced one medical hurdle after another. The House has been a constant in our journey, providing not only the basic needs, but support and hope as we face each obstacle. I knew from the first time we walked into the House to stay, I would one day find myself more involved with the organization. Through fundraising efforts and an opportunity to join the RMHC-EIWI board, it is an honor to be able to give back to such an extraordinary organization that has touched my life so deeply.”

Ian Russell, Past President

Lawyer, Lane & Waterman LLP | Resides in Bettendorf, IA

“I participated in the RMHC-EIWI golf outing each of the last two summers. It is a great event, with wonderful people, for a fantastic cause. I know how hard hospital stays can be on the patients, but also on the family members. I want to help make those stays easier on everyone involved.”

Seth Friedman, Vice President

Director, Creative Services, University of Iowa Center for Advancement | Resides in Cedar Rapids, IA

“Family. There are the ones we are born into and then there are the ones we choose. The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois is a family chosen during the most challenging time in our lives—and our communities are incredibly fortunate to have their critical support.  I have seen the smiles and relief on the faces of families who walk through the door after a 16 hour day at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital—and are greeted by a meal we just prepared.  I am moved by the caring staff who provide a home away from home for parents, family members, patients, and their siblings.  I am inspired by the volunteers who give of their time—and the donors of who generously give gifts that sustain essential programing.  It is for these reasons, I am honored and privileged to serve on this board as a resource, an advocate, and a supporter the house’s bright future.”

Dennis Gendron, Treasurer

Owner Operator, McDonald’s | Resides in East Moline, IL

“My wife, Trina, and I currently own 5 McDonald’s restaurants in the Quad Cities area. I started my career with McDonald’s 30 years ago in Rockford Illinois where I grew up. I started in management while attending the University of Wisconsin Madison.  I have held many corporate positions throughout my career.  In 2014 Trina and I purchased our first 2 McDonald’s restaurants. While not at work, I enjoy spending time with our 4 children and grand children. I look forward to helping the children at the Ronald McDonald House and helping to shape the house for the future.”

Brent Hawkins, Co-Treasurer

Service Advisor, Hawkins Wealth Management | Resides in North Liberty, IA

“I have been volunteering at RMHC-EIWI for several years.  From cooking meals, to bringing in warm breakfast from my service club.  The part I enjoy the most is being able to interact with the families.  They’re always so appreciative of everyone who is there to help out.  I am passionate about helping children and their families, and I love the mission of the RMHC-EIWI.”

Heidi Beals, Secretary

Senior Director, B/E HR Integration Lead and HCM of Rockwell Collins | Resides in Center Point, IA

“Since returning from an overseas assignment, I had been looking for opportunities to get involved in a non profit organization again. I was contacted by current President Jil Dasher around this same time and fell in love with the idea of serving on the RMCH-EIWI board. This organization is so important to families and gives a small sense of comfort in their time of need. I am proud to be part of something so special and look forward to continuing to serve the needs of the community. ”

Tracy Chambers

Office Manager Atlantic Bottling Coca-Cola | Resides in Cedar Rapids, IA

“When I toured the House, I knew immediately that I wanted to do something to help.  If I can relieve the burden of one of the many decisions and choices these families are making during their difficult time, then sign me up. When I met Cale and Jamie Henderson and heard their story, it touched me deeply as well.   I believe in what the house has to offer and their programs, and I am excited to be a part of it!”

Nathan Koch

President of NXT Bank | Resides in Iowa City, IA

“I have previously served on non-profit boards that revolve around issues relating to bettering the lives of children and youth. RMHC-EIWI is an excellent opportunity for me to continue working for these causes, especially after Jil (current board member) and Russ (husband of a past board president) both told me what great work was being done by this organization.”

Ben Logsdon

Developer, Build to Suit, Inc.  | Resides in Coralville, IA

“My wife Jennifer and I are always amazed at the great work done at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.  The stories of how the hospital staff and medical experts provide life-saving/changing care to the children and families in Eastern Iowa are truly amazing.  However, as a father of three children, it is very difficult to see young children and families dealing with the challenges those treatments often bring.  The courage shown by the young patients receiving treatments and often fighting for their lives is truly remarkable.  We felt compelled to offer some support in their courageous fight.   RMHC-EIWI was one of the few charities where as a community member we could offer some support to those children and their families.  I’m honored to be part of the RMHC Board and hope that collectively, we can make a difference for the families served here in Eastern Iowa.”

Janine Petitgout, DNP, ARNP, CPNP

Director, Care Coordination Division & Pediatric Pain/Palliative Care Program, University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital | Resides in Iowa City, IA

“For most of my professional career I have been advocating for children with special health care needs at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.   I have always enjoyed helping patients and families and along the way with many of them having benefited by the use of the Ronald McDonald House.  Hospitalization can be one of the most challenging journey’s  that a family may have to endure, and with the RMH I have seen this time being eased by providing support and a home away from home.  RMHC-EIWI seemed like an excellent opportunity to continue to advocate and work with a charity that has a focus that I truly believe in.  I know all the efforts make a difference and I am honored and privileged to serve on this board as a strong patient advocate and resource.”

Scott Soifer

McDonald’s Owner/Operator in NE Iowa | Resides in Charles City, IA

“As a second generation owner/operator, I grew up with the Ronald McDonald’s House and have been aware of the wonderful effect its mission has had on families and children for as long as I can remember. My parents were owner/operators in Eastern Iowa since the 1970’s and were very involved with the formation and building of the House in Iowa City in the 1980’s as they were longtime board members. As with most McDonald’s owner/operators, RMHC is my charity of choice and I am always looking for ways to help the House financially, through in-kind donations, encouraging supplier-partners and others to support the charity. Giving my time and talents by serving on the board is just one way in which I can try and help.”

Kristin Solberg

Owner of Briarwood Healthcare Center | Resides in Homestead, IA

“I grew up attending the Governor’s Charity Steer Show at the Iowa State Fair each year with my parents. Attending this fundraiser is a tradition that my husband Jason and I have continued with our children. This year we purchased steer from a young man that touched our hearts. We heard first hand how grateful the family was for the Ronald McDonald House. When the opportunity came up to serve on the Board I was excited to become a part of such a great organization that helps families in need.”
