When their daughter Zoey was born with a severe heart defect, the Love family knew they were in for a long journey. They traveled from Rock Island, Illinois to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, so Zoey could have three open-heart surgeries.
While Zoey was in the pediatric cardiac ICU, they were able to use the Ronald McDonald Family Room- never far from her side. Michelle enjoyed the “the ease of not having to leave the hospital when we were in the PICU, snacks and a hot dinner each night.” When they were offered a room at the Ronald McDonald House, Michelle recalls that “it gave us a place to rest and recharge each night. Your services are invaluable.”
“We are just so thankful to RMHC! We’ve stayed over 50 nights across three different hospital stays, and we have only good things to say. We are always so thankful for the quiet, safe place to sleep and all the hot meals we enjoyed while staying very close to our daughter in the hospital. Thank you so much for all that you do.”
