Tell us about yourself.
I live in Coralville and I am 65 years old. I am married and I have 3 children and 9 grandchildren. I retired from the City of Cedar Rapids Laboratory Services and I enjoy kayaking, fly fishing, gardening, traveling, and playing with my grandkids.
How long have you been an RMH volunteer?
6 years
Why do you volunteer at RMH?
I support the House’s mission of caring for the health and welfare of our children and also enjoy meeting a diverse group of people. It’s also a good way for a retiree to keep active and get some functional exercise.
What is one of your favorite volunteer memories?
Helping a Peruvian mom and her wheelchair bound son with their shopping trip at Walmart. Despite the language barrier; their courage, good humor, and thankfulness were inspiring.
What would you tell someone if they were interested in volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House?
The RMH staff make it real easy for volunteers who are sincerely interested in helping others.
