Since 1985, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois has relied on support from our community to fulfill our important mission. Whether you choose to volunteer your time at the House, one of our Family Rooms, or at an event; or you choose to make a financial contribution, your involvement makes a difference in the lives of families in urgent need of your love and support.
Each family that stays at the Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City receives vouchers for each of their children to pick out a toy to keep from the toy closet. Donations of new toys with a value between $15 and $25 is most appreciated. We need toys for both girls and boys of all ages, including teenagers.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois stocks food pantries at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
The pantries, which opened in October 2013, are located in the six pediatrics inpatient areas and one pediatric surgical waiting area of the hospital. The goal of the program is to support families with sick children by increasing their access to healthy food options. Since its first year, our food pantries have provided an average of 129 items daily to these families.
We would like to thank the University of Iowa Dance Marathon and Cargill for supporting our Food Pantry program through their generous grants and donations.
Donations of food items are welcome and can be dropped off at the House, 730 Hawkins Drive, Iowa City. Some of the most popular items for the food pantries include single-serving fruit cups, pudding cups, applesauce, Easy Mac, granola bars, and fruit snacks.
