Who We Are & What We Do

When a family travels far from home to seek medical care for a child, they face many obstacles—from expensive lodging to logistical challenges that pull them apart at a time when the comfort of loved ones means everything.

Since 1985, RMHC-EIWI has helped families stay close to each other and the care they need, when they need it most. For 35 years, we’ve offered access to comfortable accommodations, home-cooked meals, transportation to and from appointments, heartfelt support and more—all at no cost to our families.

Celebrate with Us!

Here are 4 fun and easy ways to support RMHC-EIWI during our 35th Anniversary:

1) Engrave a Brick & Leave Your Mark

To commemorate our anniversary, we’re building a brick patio next to the new playhouse in the backyard of the Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City. Each brick can be engraved with a special message in support of our families or in honor of a loved one.

Bricks are still available—learn more and reserve your brick while they last.

2) Purchase a New T-Shirt

We’re designing a t-shirt with your help! Over the last few months we have asked for what words come to mind when you think of the House. We’re underway with the design and will be selling the shirts very soon. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to find out how you can purchase this fantastic t-shirt to help support the House!

3) Donate Your Birthday

Celebrating a birthday? Let us help you blow out the candles!

Platforms like Facebook let users create fundraisers to raise money for a cause on their birthday. It’s surprisingly easy—just click on the “Fundraisers” tab on your home page and follow the directions. Be sure to select “Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois” (@rmhc.eiwi) as your nonprofit.

4) Anniversary Celebration

We’re celebrating our anniversary the best way we know how—by throwing a virtual party! Look for details to come in the next couple months, and make sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for updates on all our 35th Anniversary plans.
