Since 1985, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois has relied on support from our community to fulfill our important mission. Whether you choose to volunteer your time at the House, one of our Family Rooms or at an event, or you choose to make a financial contribution, your involvement makes a difference of the lives of families in urgent need of your love and support.
OTHER WAYS TO GET INVOLVED
The Gold Wing Road Riders Association – Iowa District has been an outstanding partner of the Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City for several years. In 2013, the group took their generosity to the next level by helping us convert a dusty storage closet into a place where kids can pick out toys to keep.
Each family that stays at the Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City receives vouchers for each of their children to pick out a toy to keep from the toy closet. The items and money donated each summer by the Gold Wing Riders helps keep the toy closet stocked. Telling a child they can pick out any toy in a whole room of toys is a joy for our staff members!
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois stocks food pantries at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
The pantries, which opened in October 2013, are located in the six pediatrics inpatient areas of the hospital. The goal of the program is to support families with sick children by increasing their access to healthy food options. In its first year, our food pantries have provided an average of 129 items daily to these families.
We would like to thank the University of Iowa Dance Marathon, Cargill and Barilla for supporting our Food Pantry program through their generous grants and donations.
Would you like to help us stock the food pantry?
Donations of food items are welcome and can be dropped off at the House, 730 Hawkins Drive, Iowa City. Some of the most-popular items for the food pantries include single-serving fruit cups, pudding cups, applesauce, Easy Mac, granola bars and fruit snacks.
